During the meeting, Berdimuhammadov drew the attention to the quadrilateral meeting on energy issues recently held in Ashgabat with participation of representatives of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and the European Union, said the message from Turkmen government.
Cemil Cicek, for his part, said that Turkey’s top leadership attaches great importance to expanding the multifaceted cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan’s energy strategy is based on the principles of diversification of routes of supplying energy resources to the world market and envisages creation of a multiversion pipeline infrastructure.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Trans-Anatolian pipeline project could also count on supply of Turkmen gas to Europe.
“TANAP can transport gas to Europe both from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan,” said Erdogan during his visit to Ashgabat in November 2014.
After the high-level negotiations held on Nov.7, 2014, Turkmenistan’s Turkmengaz State Concern and Turkish company Atagaz signed a framework agreement on cooperation in the purchase and sale of natural gas.
