On May 22, the Azerbaijani-British Energy Forum was held in London within the third meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and North Ireland, AzVision.az reports referring to Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry.

The forum, led by the UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Baroness Emma Nicholson and Azerbaijan Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, focused on the discussions of the development of the oil and gas sector, new opportunities for cooperation in the field of energy, as well as, measures taken in renewable energy and energy efficiency in Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the forum, Parviz Shahbazov spoke about the importance of energy cooperation and joint projects between the two countries. He said that the energy partnership with the United Kingdom is not limited to more than 25 billion US dollar invested in Azerbaijan's oil and gas sector and its contributions to the development of this sector: "Successful cooperation in the energy sector plays an important role in the recognition of Azerbaijan as a reliable energy supplier in the international markets and as a guarantor of energy security for many countries."

The minister highly appreciated the role of BP in the implementation of Azerbaijan's energy strategy. "We re-compile the energy map of the world, thanks to the well-thought-out energy policy of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and mutually beneficial energy policy with BP. New projects will ensure the continuation of this cooperation until the middle of the century", Parviz Shahbazov added.
