“According to international law, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan and Georgia automatically became the legal successors of the previously-existed administrative borders. Subsequently, these borders became the state borders between Azerbaijan and Georgia, and they are guarded by the two countries’ border services,” the deputy minister said.
“Georgian pilgrims are allowed entering caves in the Keshikchidag reserve at the request of the Georgian side and in line with the mutual agreement, under the control of Azerbaijani border guards. As for the implementation of some economic and other activities on its territory, it is the sovereign right of each party,” he added.
