Azerbaijan urges Armenia to stop destroying historical, cultural monuments in its occupied lands - VIDEO

The Azerbaijani community of Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh region has urged the Armenians to stop destroying historical and cultural monuments in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

The video recorded in Armenian for the Armenian community draws parallels between the conditions of the Armenian church in Baku and historical and cultural monuments in the occupied Azerbaijani territories, the video says.

The video prepared by the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh points out that the Armenians continue destroying cultural monuments in the occupied Azerbaijani lands while the Armenian church is included in the list of the "National Registration of Historical Monuments in Azerbaijan.

“Unfortunately, Armenia is trying to erase the traces of our history, destroying the historical monuments, mosques and cemeteries in the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region and the seven surrounding districts. The Armenians even re-architected and armenianize the Orthodox Church, built in Shusha for the Russian military in the 19th century. In Azerbaijan, however, the samples of material and cultural heritage belonging to other ethnic minorities, including Armenians, are always taken care of and respected,” Tural Ganjaliyev said.

The community noted that the centuries-old traditions of multiculturalism and tolerance in Azerbaijan have become the way of life of the people. “We believe that in the near future we will return to our lands, and we will restore the destroyed historical, cultural and religious monuments there”, said Tural Ganjaliyev, chairman of the Azerbaijani Community of the Nagorno-Karabakh Region of Azerbaijan.
