Australia supports territorial integrity of Azerbaijan
Australia has reiterated its support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijani Ambassador to Australia Rovsan Jamshidov held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia, and expressed Baku`s concern about the illegal travel by members of the Senate of the State of New South Wales to the occupied territories of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The head of the Azerbaijani embassy handed an official note to the Australian side.

The ministry expressed regret over this trip. It was also pointed out that the Australian government supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting it was also noted that no administrative structure of Australia, except the federal government, has a legal right to engage in foreign policy activities.

The Australian side has assured Azerbaijan that the leadership of the New South Wales will be properly informed and recommended to refrain from repeating such mistakes in the future.

Also at the request of the Embassy of Azerbaijan regarding the diplomatic status of Varuzhan Iskandaryan, who positions himself as a permanent representative of "NKR", the Australian Government responded that it does not recognize such a status or that person.

The position of the Australian Government on the status of the occupied territories of Nagorno Karabakh can be found on the website of the Foreign Ministry of this country.
