Swedish Olympic Committee President: We will send strongest team possible to Baku
"Sport can build bridges, open eyes and initiate dialogue across borders"
We were concerned that the short time for preparations of the European Games and an already too tight sports calendar would make it difficult for some sports and their best athletes to participate. But we did not vote against Baku as host city, Stefan Lindeberg, the President of the Swedish Olympic Committee Stefan Lindeberg told.

Lindeberg said Sweden will compete in the first European Games, adding that we will send the strongest team possible to Baku.

The Olympic Committee president said that sport can build bridges, open eyes and initiate dialogue across borders.

“The respect for each individual is fundamental in Sports and the Olympic Movement. European Games, as all sport events, must of course be run in accordance with the Olympic values no matter the host country. We trust that the leadership of the European Olympic Committees will make sure this will be the case,” he noted.
