Johannes Hahn: EU should think about new format of cooperation with Eastern Partnership countries
The European Union should think about a new format of cooperation with Eastern Partnership countries, which are no longer willing to build tight relations with it.

Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, made the remarks at a press conference held following his meeting with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili in Brussels.

“We must work harder and try to understand that our partners are far different than one another. One is interested to build closer cooperation with us – in this case we need to consider what steps we would possibly take in future, while others seek another form of cooperation. In this case, we need to ponder how we can continue our relations in a better way and on a new format to be probably developed,” said the EU commissioner.

Note that, Azerbaijan too supports a change of the format of cooperation with the EU. Baku has officially announced that it intends to cooperate with the EU within strategic cooperation rather than associative.
