Armenian troops should be withdrawn from occupied territories
Member of the German Bundestag committee on foreign relations from the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) party Peter Gauweiler has urged urgent withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

He mentioned resolutions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict adopted by the UN Security Council, noting that the Nagorno-Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan.

Mr. Gauweiler called the occupation of the Azerbaijani lands a violation of international law, AzerTAcreports.

“Therefore, the Armenian troops should be withdrawn from the occupied territories. This is the only way to resolve the conflict," he added.

“The internally displaced persons should be given an opportunity to safely return to their homes. So the Armenian troops should be immediately pulled out from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan."

Noting that Azerbaijan is an important partner for Germany, Mr. Gauweiler said the countries maintain close cooperation on a variety of fronts.
