Europe-Azerbaijan Society: Holding European Games indicator of big confidence for country
Providing Azerbaijan the right to hold the first European Games by sporting elite of Europe suggests that the country has gained a lot of trust under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Chairman of The Europe-Azerbaijan Society Tale Heydarov said at the presentation ceremony, marking the launching of activity of Oxford University Press in Azerbaijan.
He said that such trust is also an indicator of the fact that Azerbaijan has a high status as a sporting country.

Heydarov also said that relations between Azerbaijan and Europe are developing successfully, and holding of the first European Games shows it.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
