Lithuanian MFA approves its ambassador`s request for resignation
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday confirmed the request of Lithuanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Arturas Zurauskas to recall him from the office.
This decision of the ambassador seeks to block the path of a possible negative impact on the reputation of the state and his own reputation, said the Foreign Ministry.

"Diplomat understands that the current situation makes it difficult to properly continue to work in an existing position," said the Ministry.

"I regard this as a decent act of the ambassador. It is clear that impeccable standards of morality and ethics are expected from diplomats," Minister of Foreign Affairs Lynas Linkevicius said.

The Ministry continues the investigation.

Zurauskas and three Lithuanian diplomats - Lithuanian ambassador to Hungary Renatas Juska, deputy director of the Department of Eastern European and Central Asian Affairs Zenonas Kumetaytis and employee of the Foreign Ministry Gediminas Kasputis were involved in a scandal because of the records of their conversations publicized on the Internet.
