Turkey eliminates over 600 PKK terrorists in Iraq

As part of the Turkish Armed Forces operations against the terrorists of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Iraq's north, from May 27 to date, 676 PKK militants have been eliminated, AzVision.az reports referring to the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey.

The Turkish Armed Forces and Air Force, as before, will actively fight against PKK terrorists, including other terrorist organizations that pose a threat to the country's national security, the ministry noted.

On May 27, the Turkish Air Force and the Armed Forces launched a large-scale operation dubbed 'Pence' (Paw) in the Hakurk region in northern Iraq.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has been lasting around 40 years, claiming more than 40,000 lives. The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by the UN and the EU.
