Turkey seeks to explore oil gas jointly with Azerbaijan
Turkey intends to cooperate with Azerbaijan in oil and gas exploration, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said.
He noted Turkey is expected to cooperate with Iran in oil and gas exploration as well, Turkish media reported.

"Turkey is currently engaged in the oil and gas exploration in 13 regions in the north of Iraq,`` he said. ``Turkish Energy Company explores seven regions of Iraq. Turkish Energy Company together with Exxon Mobil conducts the operations in six regions."

Turkey is actively searching for oil fields to reduce dependence on oil products from abroad. The high-quality oil reserves were discovered in the Magrip field, Kurtalan area, Turkish province of Siirt in January 2013.

The economic projects jointly implemented by Azerbaijan and Turkey, particularly in the energy sector, make significant contribution to the development of strategic partnership between the two countries.

One of the major joint energy projects is TANAP, which is developed by SOCAR in collaboration with Turkish Botas and the energy company TPAO, and will deliver Shah Deniz gas to the Turkish-Greek border from eastern Turkey.

The cooperation not only in transportation of energy resources, but also in their exploration is believed to bring the fruitful partnership of the two countries to a new level.
