 Next round of political consultations held between Azerbaijani and Finnish MFA

The next round of political consultations between Foreign Affairs Ministries of Azerbaijan and Finland took place on October 1, in Helsinki, AzVision.az reports citing the Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

Azerbaijani delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov.

The deputy FM held meetings with Maimo Henriksson, the General Director of the department for Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia and Matti Anttonen, the secretary of state of Finland Foreign Affairs Ministry in the framework of consultations.

During consultations, the current situation of relationships between the two countries was analyzed and exchanged of views about partnership perspectives.

The sides emphasized that there is a great potential to aggrandize relationships between Azerbaijan and Finland in various areas. Particularly, collaboration directions for economy and wildlife protection, vocational training, as well as twinning projects held in Azerbaijan were discussed with the participation of Finland.

Mr Khalafov informed comprehensively his interlocutors about reforms realized in Azerbaijan.

During meetings, Azerbaijan-European Union relationships exchanged views around priorities determined by Finland in the framework of its chairmanship in EU

Armenian Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the current situation of the resolution process of the conflict were also discussed during meeting.

Additionally, the sides exchanged ideas about the partnership in the Caspian Sea basin, regional energy and transportation projects realized with the help of Azerbaijan’s participation and initiative, as well other regional and international issues creating the mutual interest.

During his visit to Helsinki, Kh. Khalafov also met with Ilkka Kanerva, the deputy chairman of the committee for the international relations of Finland Parliament, the former Foreign Affairs minister.
