“We always hope for building friendly, unbiased and mutually beneficial relations free of stereotypes with our closest neighbors, which Poland is one of,” Peskov told journalists in regard to relations with the expected new leader of Poland.
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Polish President-elect Andrzej Duda with hopes that the two countries would build constructive relations.
“The head of the Russian state’s congratulatory telegram expressed assuredness in the building of constructive relations between Russia and Poland based on the principle of sincere friendly neighborliness and mutual respect of interests that would provide the strengthening of security and stability in Europe,” the press service said.
According to the latest figures from Poland’s Election Committee, Duda has garnered 51.78 percent of the votes cast in 38 out of 51 polling districts, followed by current President Bronislaw Komorowski with 48.22 percent of the votes.
