Azerbaijani President: Nagorno-Karabakh is native Azerbaijani land
There is a sufficient legal basis for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to be settled within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, President Ilham Aliyev said Wednesday at the official reception held on the occasion of the country’s national holiday – the Republic Day.

“First, Nagorno-Karabakh is a historical, ancient Azerbaijani land. Despite dirty efforts of the Armenian lobby, we managed to prove – thanks to the policy we have pursued in recent years – that Nagorno-Karabakh is a native Azerbaijani land. Second, Nagorno-Karabakh is recognized by the entire international community as an integral part of Azerbaijan. And the whole world politically accepted Nagorno-Karabakh as an integral part of Azerbaijan when the country became a member of the United Nations. Third, Azerbaijan’s political weight today is of course incomparable to Armenia’s. The fourth one is the economic factor. Azerbaijan`s economy is at least 10 times larger and stronger than Armenia’s,” said the head of state.

The president reiterated that the UN Security Council adopted 4 resolutions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“The UN Security Council adopted no resolution regarding similar conflicts in the post-Soviet space. These resolutions make it clear that the Armenian armed forces should unconditionally withdraw from the occupied territories. Though Armenia tries to distort it, it is impossible, because it was written and published,” President Aliyev added.

The head of state noted that the conflict will be resolved within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, and Nagorno-Karabakh will never gain independence.
