Foreign diplomats in Azerbaijan informed about Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

"The problem of refugees is today relevant for most countries and discussions in this sphere on the international platform are of great importance, but all the same, there is the concern that little attention is paid to the issue of displaced persons," deputy chairman of the State Committee on Work with Refugees and Displaced Persons Fuad Huseynov said while discussing the state policy in the sphere of work with refugees and displaced persons with foreign diplomats at the ADA University.

The diplomats were informed about the origins, reasons and current situation around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, humanitarian crisis in the country as a result of the conflict and continuing implications. It was noted that four resolutions of the UN Security Council on the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, as well as the decisions and resolutions of other international organizations are not fulfilled.

It was brought to the attention of the diplomats that the solution of the social problems is a priority direction of social policy carried by the country's leadership.

It was noted that liberation of occupied lands, provision of goodwill and safe return of IDPs to their lands is the only way for the sustainable solution of the problem of displaced persons in Azerbaijan.

The questions of the participants on international policy and humanitarian law in Azerbaijan and other countries were answered in conclusion.
