An earthquake has occurred in Greece, about 82 kilometers (51 miles) northwest of the capital Athens, where strong tremors were felt; the US Geological Survey has stated that it had a magnitude of 5.2.
The quake hit Greece at about 01:09 GMT on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said adding that the epicenter was located at a depth of 5.8 kilometers (3.6 miles) in the North Euboean Gulf. According to the Richter scale, earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.0-5.9 are considered to be moderate and can lead to casualties and cause damage to buildings and infrastructure.
