First group of Polish athletes coming to Baku for European Games
Polish athletes are coming to Baku to participate in the first European Games, Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Poland told.
The seeing-off ceremony of 77 Polish athletes, including wrestlers, triathletes, tennis players, volleyball players, as well as cyclists took place.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Sport and Tourism of Poland Dorota Idzi, President of the Polish Olympic Committee Andrzej Kraśnicki, Secretary General of the Polish Olympic Committee Adam Krzesinski and other members of the Olympic Committee, athletes and reporters.

During the event, guests were shown a video footage dedicated to the first European games in Baku.

President of the Polish Olympic Committee Andrzej Kraśnicki said that he feels proud about the fact that Polish athletes will participate in the first European Games in Baku.

Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
