Former Turkish media boss dies in Monaco, body to be sent to Turkey
Erol Simavi, a prominent Turkish businessman who was the former owner and chief executive of the Hürriyet daily newspaper, died on Monday at a hospital where he had been receiving treatment in Monaco. His body is set to be sent to Turkey.

Simavi, who had been living in Sweden for years, reportedly died due to age-related health conditions. A funeral ceremony for Simavi is planned to take place in İstanbul on Wednesday.

Simavi was also the son of Sedat Simavi, the founder of the Hürriyet daily. He sold his shares in Hürriyet in 1993 after a career spanning 41 years and withdrew from the media business.

The Turkish Journalists Association (TGC) and the Press Council in Turkey both issued statements to extend condolences for Simavi`s death, according to the Doğan news agency.
