SOCAR repairing 4 rigs at Baku Oil Refinery
The SOCAR company (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) has started repair work in parallel on the four rigs of the Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev, said the message of SOCAR June 9.

A list of repair work to be carried out on rigs of primary oil refining, catalytic cracking, gradual coking and catalytic reforming has been compiled and range of questions for their implementation defined, according to the message.

“Table of defects has been made up, and work under the relevant project tasks has begun,” said the message. “During the repair work, officers of the technical control department will check the state of technological rigs, and the mechanical, electrical and metrological work will be carried out on the rigs in accordance with the table of defects.”

During the repair work, the control over the observance of safety and environmental standards will be strengthened, the risks of the operations will be determined in advance. Organization of preparation for repair work gives reason to believe that the work will be completed efficiently and on time.

After the completion of the reconstruction, the processing capacity of the refinery will increase from 6 million to 7.5 million metric tons of oil per year.

The modernization cost is estimated at $1 billion.

SOCAR announced about liquidation of Azneftyag oil refinery on January 1, 2015 and its merger with Baku Oil Refinery named after Heydar Aliyev as part of work on improving and optimization of SOCAR’s structure.

In total, over 5.31 million metric tons of petroleum products were produced in Azerbaijan in 2014, compared to 5.09 million metric tons in 2013.
