European Parliament tries to put pressure on Azerbaijan, says MP
The anti-Azerbaijani campaign carried out both by the European Parliament and other international structures has one purpose – to put pressure on Azerbaijan, get certain dividends and weaken the country’s strengthening position in the world, Azerbaijani MP Bakhtiyar Aliyev told on June 10.

He was commenting on the upcoming hearings on Azerbaijan in the European Parliament.

The MP said that another purpose of this campaign is to conceal Armenia’s occupation policy against Azerbaijan. “Undoubtedly, all these contradict with the principle of mutually effective cooperation of the international structures.”

Bakhtiyar Aliyev said that in the period of holding the first ever European Games, everyone should unite, since a great opportunity emerges for the dialogue and for exchange of views.

“Unfortunately, they only state about this, but in reality, they consistently hinder the fruitful cooperation,” the MP added.

Bakhtiyar Aliyev said that such smear campaigns will have no effect and Azerbaijan, as an independent and democratic state will continue its policy by strengthening its positions in the world.

Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
