 International arrest warrant issued for 305 persons in connection with Khojaly genocide

"On 18 December 2003, the joint investigative group was established by the Prosecutor General’s Office, Interior Ministry and National Security Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan to investigate crimes committed during the Karabakh war, discover and bring to justice the perpetrators and raise the issue with international institutions.The prosecutor general on 5 May 2005 entrusted supervision of the investigation to the Military Prosecutor’s Office", Emil Taghiyev, chief of Special Investigation Department of the Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor's Office said, AzVision.az reports.

Five main directions have been defined on the criminal case:

"Genocide against the Azerbaijani people, torture of captives and hostages, terrorism, material damage to the state and citizens, and grave crimes committed on the basis of national hatred."

"An appeal has been sent to various international organizations in order to ensure the prosecution of some 305 people found guilty of committing war crimes and crimes humanity. Work is underway to expose them and to involve the investigation process."
