The Azerbaijani government submitted a document to the UN Security Council and General Assembly regarding the events of February 1988 in Sumgayit, Azerbaijani MFA wrote on its Twitter account.
Official investigation established that Sumgait unrest in February 1988 had been a well-prepared provocation masterminded by Armenian extremist organizations to discredit Azerbaijan and cover up Armenia’s unlawful annexationist intentions.
The document was presented to the UN General Assembly by Ambassador Yashar Aliyev, the Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations.
