Ukrainian NOC denies reports of incident between Ukrainian and Russian athletes

Ukrainian NOC denies reports of incident between Ukrainian and Russian athletes

The National Olympic Committee of Ukraine has issued a statement to deny the reports of alleged incident between Ukrainian and Russian athletes in the Athletes Village of the first European Games in Baku.

According to the statement, no member of the Ukrainian team which arrived in Baku for the participation in the European Games was not involved any incident.

Reports first posted on Azerbaijani website “haqqin.az” and then on Ukrainian and foreign mass media outlets about the alleged involvement of Ukrainian athletes in a brawl in Baku don’t reflect the reality, Ukraine’s NOC noted.

The European Games Organizing Committee, the Ukrainian Embassy in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan’s appropriate security agencies haven’t registered such a fact, said the statement.
