The articles of critical nature published by some Western media with unfounded allegations don’t change the truth. And the truth is that Azerbaijan has justified the hopes entrusted in it, when the country was chosen to host the first-ever European games.
And now, without any exaggeration, one can say that Azerbaijan, properly and in a very short time preparing for the Games, met all the expectations. Everything is ready for the start of the competitions.
And today, Azerbaijan, as well as millions of viewers around the world, are looking forward to the opening of this important event.
Foreigners who have arrived in Baku – athletes, journalists, as well as the tourists who came to enjoy this major sports event, are already sharing their impressions about what they have seen in a few days. And, there has been no negative feedback from them.
The athletes, who arrived in Baku, positively assess the conditions created for them. The Athletes Village, in particular, has left a special impression on them. As the athletes say, the village meets the highest standards.
It should be noted that the website of the Russian Gazette (Rossiyskaya Gazeta) presented an extensive story dedicated to the Athletes Village.
“No intention to leave this place”, says the headline of the mentioned article, which really tells a lot about the conditions created in the village. As the story said, the Athletes Village is designed to accomodate 7718 people.
The Russian Gazette also said that the Baku 2015 Athletes Village has seven resident centers, which include media centers, information centers, clinics, laundries and ceremonial sites. There is also a guest checkpoint, which will regulate the passing of the relatives and friends of the athletes to the village.
The story also said the Athletes Village has the most comfortable recreational conditions for the athletes. The recreation centers operate around the clock.
The head of the Russian delegation to Baku 2015 European Games, Igor Kazikov said that the accommodation conditions of the European Games participants in Baku fully meets the Olympic requirements, as well as the International Olympic Committee requirements.
The athletes themselves share their impressions on the social networks, post photos of their rooms in the Athletes Village, as well as the photos of the training halls.
For example, UK gymnast Nile Wilson tweeted that he had a great couple of days training in Baku. German volleyball team tweeted that the players are looking forward to a great opening ceremony today.
Emma Kavanagh, member of the UK sports delegation wrote on Twitter that she landed safely in Baku and is now settled into the team apartment block. Kavanagh added that it is amazing to be in Baku.
Head coach of Germany Vital Heynen tweeted that he is ready for staying long in Baku. “It feels all like being on the Olympics.”
Members of Slovenian Olympic team tweeted that the first group of the country’s athletes arrived in Azerbaijan’s capital June 9. The athletes tweeted that they like the conditions created in the Athletes Village.
Moreover, Karen Giloyan, spokesperson of Armenian team which has arrived in Baku for the First European Games also made positive remarks regarding the security level in Azerbaijan.
He said that security in Azerbaijan has been ensured at the highest level. Giloyan added that the Armenian team includes six members, while he himself will stay in Baku till the end of the Games.
Thus, the positive remarks from the athletes, delegation members from various countries the majority of whom are in Baku for the first time, prove that the country has prepared for this major and important sports event at a high level.
Meanwhile, undoubtedly, Azerbaijan’s hospitality will also impress the guests of the country.
