President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has officially declared the First European Games open.
“I declare Baku 2015 First European Games open,” said the head of state.
As many as 68,000 spectators have gathered at the Baku Olympic Stadium. Over 300 creative groups from 28 countries and 1,000 people from 34 countries were involved in the organization of the ceremony.
More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
The Baku 2015 European Games will last till June 28.
