Names+Faces: Angelina Jolie joins African Union summit
Appearing at an African Union summit in South Africa on Friday, actress and director Angelina Jolie spoke out against rape as a weapon of war and urged African representatives to support women`s rights.
Jolie, a United Nations special envoy on refugee issues, shared a panel with the African Union Commission Chairwoman Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, former British Foreign Secretary William Hague and other prominent delegates.

"Progress is slow, it is uneven, it is fragile and in some parts of the world it is being erased," Jolie said.

"Think what it would mean if the 54 nations of the African Union press as one toward full rights and opportunities for women, not just for this great continent but for the world."

Rivers` book: Cheaper than therapy

Melissa Rivers wanted to laugh — and she wants her readers to do the same.

Her best-selling memoir, "The Book of Joan: Tales of Mirth, Mischief and Manipulation" (Crown Archetype) is a touching and funny paean to her mother, Joan Rivers, who died last September at 81 after complications from minor throat surgery.

"Writing it gave me permission to laugh and joke, and a safe place to do so," Rivers said. Rivers, who, still reeling from her loss last fall, set to work with her writing partner, Larry Amoros, a longtime family friend and writer for Joan.

"We wanted to call the book `Cheaper Than Therapy,` " Rivers says, "but we were afraid it would get mixed up in the self-help therapy section of the bookstore."

Yoko to do art piece for Chicago

Yoko Ono`s first permanent public art installation in the U.S. will be in Chicago, the artist announced Friday alongside Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The two held a news conference in Jackson Park on the city`s South Side, where the installation "SKY LANDING" will open in June 2016.

The idea for the work came when Ono, 82, who is John Lennon`s widow, visited the park in 2013 for a cherry blossom tree installation. Ono`s other public art works include the Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavik, Iceland, a tower of light beams that is a tribute to Lennon.

Another good deed by Swift?

Taylor Swift donated $15,000 Thursday to a firefighter`s family injured in a crash, Billboard reported.

Volunteer firefighter Aaron VanRiper responded to an accident scene on Saturday near Huntsville, Texas, and found his wife Amber and son John were the ones seriously injured in the crash. The family did not have insurance and friends started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for their medical bills.

"If it is her, I thank her from the bottom of my heart. She`s an amazing person," VanRiper said about the donation before it was confirmed.

As of Friday morning, the GoFundMe campaign has raised more than $100,000 of its $125,000 goal.
