OSCE MG affirms IDPs
“On behalf of the co-chairs, I promise that we will do everything possible to resolve the conflict and achieve the signing of the Great Peace Agreement that is welcomed by all the peoples of the region”

The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Ambassadors Igor Popov of Russia, James Warlick of the United States, and Pierre Andrieu of France – held on Sunday a meeting for the Azerbaijani IDPs in Masazir settlement, Baku’s Absheron district.

The meeting was also attended by Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk, assistant co-chair from the U.S. David Salvo, field assistant Hristo Hristov and Rovshan Safarov, the third secretary of the regional security department at the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The co-chairs visited the apartments for IDPs and familiarized with their living conditions. The IDPs said their main desire is to return to their native lands.

The co-chairs also visited the school built for children of IDPs from Azerbaijan’s occupied Zangilan district. Teacher Elvira Hasanova asked the co-chairs the cause of equal attitude toward Armenia, the occupying country, and Azerbaijan, of which territories are under occupation, and when they can return to their native lands.

Warlick said they also want the return of IDPs to their native lands.

“All IDPs will return to their native lands after a peace agreement is signed. We will do our outmost to achieve it. At the same time, this issue can be solved by the political will of Azerbaijan and Armenia. We are strongly concerned about the plight of IDPs. But good conditions were created for them in Baku. We also affirm the right of IDPs to return to their native lands. I am sure that the students studying in this school will return to their lands and can live in a good neighborhood with Armenians,” he added.

The co-chairs then viewed the stand reflecting the history of Zangilan district. Warlick signed the memory book at the school.

He expressed the hope that all IDPs will have the right to return to their lands.

“I hope that you and your children will live peace in your Motherland. On behalf of the co-chairs I promise that we will do everything possible to resolve the conflict and achieve the signing of the Great Peace Agreement that is welcomed by all the peoples of the region,” Warlick stressed.

The Russian co-chair welcomed his US counterpart’s remarks.
