`EOC cannot intervene in issues between Azerbaijan and Armenia`
The European Olympic Committees (EOC) can not intervene in issues between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Spyros Capralos, the head of the EOC Coordination Commission, told reporters on June 15.

He said there is a spirit of competition at the sports grounds, and the Games continue in a normal atmosphere.

Simon Clegg, the Baku 2015 chief operating officer, said the Armenian medalist Migran Arutunyan thanked Azerbaijanis for good welcome.

“It testifies the power of sport,” he added.

Spyros Capralos said Azerbaijan has much invested in sports.

“Azerbaijan continues making large investments not only in sports but also in youth policy. Following the first European Games, Azerbaijan is going to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix, the World Chess Olympiad, the Islamic Solidarity Games and the quarterfinals and three group games of the UEFA EURO 2020. All this proves the fact that Azerbaijan has a great chance to hold the Olympic Games,” he noted.
