Russian Soldier Killed in Armenia
A soldier of the 102nd Russian military base in Armenia was arrested on Monday in connection with the death of fellow serviceman Ivan Novikov, who was found dead on June 15 near the Mother Armenia monumental statue in Gyumri, Colonel Alexei Polyukhovich, Deputy Commander of the 102nd Russian military base said.

A criminal case has been initiated pursuant to Article 104 of the RA Criminal Code (murder), the RA Investigative Committee reported.

19-year-old Ivan Novikov, a soldier of the 102nd Russian military base in the Armenian city of Gyumri, was found dead on Monday, June 15, near the Mother Armenia monumental statue, Raffi Aslanyan, Prosecutor of Shirak province said in an interview with GalaTV.am. Novikov was a recruit, had been serving for two months.

The soldier`s body, Aslanyan said, showed signs of violence. Representatives of the RA Police and the Investigative Committee of Armenia, in turn, reported that the body was discovered with multiple stab wounds.
