Baku 2015: Another two Azerbaijani wrestlers enter semifinals
Another two Azerbaijani athletes - Togrul Asgarov and Khetag Gazyumov, competing in the weight categories of 65 and 97 kilograms respectively, advanced to the semifinals of the freestyle wrestling competition as part of the first European Games in Baku.

Azerbaijani wrestler, gold medal winner at London 2012 Olympic Games, Togrul Asgarov (65 kg) reached the 1/8 finals after defeating his Russian opponent Ilias Bekbulatov with a score of 8:7. Then the Azerbaijani athlete took a lead over his Moldovan rival Mihai Sava with a score of 10:0. In the quarterfinals, Asgarov defeated French wrestler Maxime Fiquet in a 10:0 win and advanced to the semifinals.

In the first fight, Azerbaijani wrestler Khetag Gazyumov (97 kg) defeated Polish athlete Radoslaw Baran with a score of 10:0. Gazyumov took a lead over Nikolay Chebani (Moldova) with a score of 4:0 in the 1/8 finals. The Azerbaijani athlete reached the quarterfinals after defeating Moldovan wrestler Nikolay Chebani in a 4:0 win. Then he gained a victory over Belarusian athlete Ibrahim Saidov with a score of 2:1 and advanced to the semifinals.

Two-time European Champion, Jabrayil Hasanov (74 kg) gained a victory over Mihaly Nagy (Hungary), 10:0. In quarter-finals, he lost to Soner Demirtas (Turkey) with a score of 3:5.

Earlier, Azerbaijani wrestler Yashar Aliyev, competing in the weight category of 57 kg, reached the semifinal of the freestyle wrestling competition. In the quarterfinals, he gained a victory over Armenian athlete Garik Barseghyan with a score of 10:6.

The athletes will compete in the weight categories of 57, 65, 74 and 97 kilograms on the first day of freestyle wrestling competition.
