Tbilisi pinguin swims to Azerbaijan
An African pinguin who escaped from the Tbilisi zoo during a devastating flood was found swimming in a river at the Red Bridge (the Georgian-Azerbaijani border).
AzVision.Az reports citing Gruziya-Online that the statement came from the press service of the zoo.

The zoo in Tbilisi was hit by flooding on the night of 14 June. Water fully destroyed the lower part of the zoo. Some of the animals escaped to the city and their wild species were caught or killed all along Tbilisi on Sunday. Less than a half of 600 zoo inhabitants have survived.

"15 minutes ago we received a call which said a pinguin is swimming near the Red Bridge. He seems to be alright. We have sent a group which will bring it to Tbilisi", the zoo said.

African pinguins were presented to the Georgian zoo by the administration of the Living Coasts located in Great Britain in July 2014. The Tbilisi zoo has a big pool and a sand beach with small caves and mud nests for pinguins.
