Baku 2015 to become springboard for many athletes
The First European Games in Baku will become a springboard for many athletes, Luxembourg’s Sports Minister Romain Schneider told reporters June 17.

The minister said that the First European Games in Baku have been organized at a high level.

The European Games can be called “London +”, since some elements of London 2012 Olympic Games were used here at a high level, according to Schneider.

Luxembourg minister added that this experience gives an opportunity to hold the Olympic Games in Azerbaijan in the future.

The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28.

There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
