  Peruvian Congress adopts statement on Azerbaijan

The Peruvian Congress has adopted a statement to congratulate the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of May 28 – the Republic Day.

The statement was adopted on the initiative of Guillermo Aliaga Pajares, 2nd Vice President of the Peruvian Congress, the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in the country told AzVision.az.

The statement noted that the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic established on 28 May 1918 was the first democratic, legal and secular state in the eastern world, as well as the first parliamentary republic. It also stressed the great importance of this day for the people of Azerbaijan.

Peru enjoys close friendly relations with Azerbaijan and respects the Azerbaijani people and leadership for their work to strengthen democracy, according to the statement.
