British diver says European Games in Baku surpass all expectations
European Games in Baku surpass all expectations, British diver James Heatly, who took the third place in diving June 18, told Trend.

He went on to add that these Games are amazing. “It is definitely more that I expected,” Heatly said.

He said he hasn’t really had a chance to speak to any of Azerbaijani athletes, yet added that everyone he has seen in the Athletes’ Village was very welcoming, very nice.

Everyone in the Athletes’ Village gets along very well and helps everybody else, according to the British athlete.

European Games are very exciting, Heatly said, adding that this event is a lot bigger than he thought it was going to be.

He said that Baku has amazing pools, and all other venues are great.

“The whole atmosphere is amazing here,” said the British diver.

The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.

More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
