5.2-magnitude earthquake hits Western Turkey

According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the tremor occurred at around 7 a.m. GMT, not far from the city of Izmir. At the moment, there are no reports about damage or fatalities from the quake.

Powerful 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit western Turkey, the EMSC reported on Friday morning. The epicentre of the tremor is located 13 km northwest of Gölmarmara - the provincial centre of Manisa. According to the EMSC, at least 20 million people living in the area felt the tremor.
