Azerbaijan and Japan to prepare agreement on cooperation in defense sector
Azerbaijan and Japan are to prepare an agreement on bilateral military cooperation.
The issue was discussed at the meeting of Azerbaijani Defense Minister Colonel General Safar Abiyev with the delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Defense of Japan Masahisa Sato, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry press service said on Friday.

The rapid development of the cultural and economic ties between Japan and Azerbaijan was noted at the meeting.

According to the statement, Azerbaijani Defense Minister underscored that bilateral cooperation will make a great contribution in the deepening of relations between the countries.

In his turn, Sato stressed the importance of cooperation between the countries, and noted that participation of Azerbaijani Armed Forces in peacekeeping missions has a great significance.

The meeting was attended by Azerbaijani Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Japan Gursel Ismailzade and Japanese Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Azerbaijan Shusuke Watanabe.
