Latvia calls Azerbaijan and Armenia to peace

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia expressed its concerns over the escalation of tensions and military operations in Tovuz and Tavush regions on the Azerbaijan-Armenia border, AzVision.az reports citing the statement made by Latvia MFA.

It was stated that these events pose a serious threat to peace and stability, causing casualties on both sides. The Latvian MFA has called the sides to end the violence and restore the ceasefire.

"Armenia and Azerbaijan should avoid any action or statement that could escalate the conflict," the statement read.

Latvia's position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is clear. Latvia supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each country, as stated in the Helsinki Final Act and the OSCE Charter in Paris. Latvia wants the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of recognized principles of international law within the OSCE Minsk Group.
