Government`s Decision Is Funny. Fight Continues in Armenia

People on Baghramyan Avenue continue their fight and announce that they will fight till the end.

Demonstrators are singing and dancing, people are treating food to one another and repeating that they will win.

“Whether the authorities give up or not, change the tariff or not, this is already victory.

People care for one another, this is already a victory,” say the young people who have taken to the street.

The demonstrators are mocking the government’s decision to boost the poverty allowance by 2000 drams and call the government to cancel it.

“We don’t need those 2000 drams, they need not give this amount to anyone because there are families which do not get the allowance but they cannot support their families,” said one of the participants, adding that they will fight till the end to achieve cancellation of the increase in price of electricity.

Activists say that people have one demand, stop increase in prices, and the government must meet their demand.

The Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan has urged the young people to leave Baghramyan Avenue and enter into a constructive dialogue on the matter concerned. The activists decline Hovik Abrahamyan’s proposal. “A constructive dialogue on what? That people want to live?” they are asking.

They say whatever is happening is not a topic of dialogue. “People just want to live, that’s it. This is not about luxury, this is about a modest living, and there is no need to negotiate on this, it is only necessary to create conditions. The first step would be relieving a little the social burden,” said one of the activists.
