The successful holding of the first European Games in Azerbaijan showed the whole world how much importance the country attaches to sport, according to the diplomat.
“Everybody had wonderful impressions from the successful organization of the first European Games by Azerbaijan,” Coskun said. “Azerbaijan has set the bar of their holding high.”
The Turkish diplomat also said that the guests, who arrived in Azerbaijan at the Games, also got acquainted with the rich culture and felt the hospitality of the Azerbaijani people.
The Turkish Ambassador congratulated Azerbaijan on the successful holding of the first European Games.
The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and wrapped up on June 28. Baku 2015 First European Games hosted 20 sports – 16 Olympic and four non-Olympic sports.
More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
