`Baku 2015 closing ceremony - worthy final of the Olympian Games`
The grand closing ceremony of the Baku 2015 first European Games has become a worthy final of a large-scale sporting event, Georgian ambassador to Azerbaijan Teymuraz Sharashenidze told following the closing ceremony of the games.
"A spectacular show of the closing ceremony, as well as the opening ceremony, are worthy of the Olympian Games,” he said. “Azerbaijan has proved to the world that it can not only host, but also successfully carry out such a large-scale event as the first European Games. The sports arenas, organizing of sports events, opening and closing ceremonies of games have clearly shown Azerbaijan`s success and its sports achievements."

The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and will last till June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.

More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
