Sergey Markov, a member of Russia`s Public Chamber, political analyst, wrote on his Facebook page.
“Russia ranked first, while Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom took the 2nd and 3rd places respectively at Baku 2015. It was a friendly holiday for Russia. Therefore Russia was represented with a professional staff at the Games. Azerbaijan has managed to hold a superb international event, and with its base, it can host other international events. Located at the crossroads of Eurasia, Baku along with the strengthening of their positions, and of course, will develop its tourism potential. Millions of people will go to Azerbaijan, taste dishes of Azerbaijani cuisine and will be able to travel across the Caspian Sea,” he wrote.
Mikhail Likhachev, the coach of the Russian Beach Soccer team which won a gold medal at the first European Games, told R-Sport, a sports news agency of RIA Novosti, that the beach soccer competitions were held at a high level in Baku.
“You can not imagine what it means for us to win a gold medal at the I European games. I can not say exactly beach soccer will be included in the Olympics or not, but the Baku 2015 was the real Olympics for us. We feel the Olympic champions,” he added.
