The victory of athletes brought these Games to greater levels. I’m fully confident that there were a variety of assumptions among you and this audience about which place would take.
Perhaps no one believed that it would be the second place. This is a historic victory.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made the remarks at a meeting with the Azerbaijani winners of the Baku-2015 First European Games, their coaches, representatives of Azerbaijani sports community as well as foreign partners who had merits in the organizing of the Games.
The head of state said that this is a victory of Azerbaijani sports and the Azerbaijani state. “Perhaps, we were all moved to tears several times these days. All of us had unforgettable moments hard to describe in words. The joy of victory, sense of pride, strength of our athletes, unity of our people – all these will never be forgotten. Azerbaijan is at the top today,” said the president.
