In what way do entrepreneurs think? -   iWONDER

Entrepreneurs are a very specific breed of person and they think in a very specific way. You’ll likely know when you’re in the presence of one. Their words give clues as to how they think. It can be fascinating. Here are some ways entrepreneurs think and how to think like an entrepreneur yourself.

Focus on your unique contribution

True entrepreneurs have defined the unique way they will contribute to this world. They know who they are and what they stand for. They’re not looking to just be successful or leave a legacy; it’s more than that. It’s about contribution, purpose, a mission, and fulfilling the vision of what they believe they were placed here to do. They aren’t concerned with imitating strategies to replicate another’s journey. They want to map their own extraordinary path and live their own extraordinary life and achieve what was previously deemed impossible.

Think like an entrepreneur by digging in deep to your own offering. Find your zone of genius: what you are good at, what you enjoy, what the world needs. Your unique contribution lies at the intersection of those three answers.

Constantly solve problems

Entrepreneurs are constantly solving problems. Small ones; where to store something or how to fix something, and huge ones like how to orbit the earth or cure disease or make people truly happy. Their constant curiosity and desire to improve applies to everything they put their mind to.

Think like an entrepreneur by always looking for a better way. A better way to structure your website, sign up a new client, or plan your day. Keep asking “why” and keep iterating towards perfection. Be relentless in your search for answers and hold yourself to exceptional standards because that’s who you are.

Protect your energy

Entrepreneurs know their energy needs to be spent wisely, so they are aware of when it’s being needlessly drained. They remove drama, scaremongering and naysayers from their headspace and avoid them at all costs. Consciously expending energy leads to the heightened awareness of what’s in and out of their control. They ensure only the former concerns them. They can zoom out of a conversation or situation and quickly assess what really matters. If something isn’t worth their energy they will let it slide without delay.

Think like an entrepreneur by protecting your energy and not wasting it. Keep it channelled into your work, your team and your progress and watch the results happen.

Practice persistence

Entrepreneurs don’t expect to hear a “yes” on their first ask. They know the world owes them nothing and they assume indifference from others. Instead, they plan their approach and follow up. They focus on standing out and making an impression and won’t give up without succeeding. They don’t give excuses or second guess, they make working with them a no brainer.

Think like an entrepreneur by hearing a “no” and interpreting it as “not yet”. The more someone could do for you, the harder they are to reach. So do more for them. Plan, approach, follow up. Put the work in and flip the balance. Be so good they can’t ignore you and seek out those life changing partnerships until they seek you out in return.

Fully commit to your purpose

The most effective entrepreneurs don’t flit around. They’re not overlooking their calling because they’ve gotten tangled up in a side project. They’re not about making quick bucks or random opportunism. They’re committed and tunnel-visioned and they’re in it for the long haul. They take pride in their longevity and leave at exactly the right time. Perhaps they took years to decide, but when they do they’re all in. No job offer could tempt them and there’s nowhere else they’d rather be. They can spot fleeting distractions a mile off and they steer well clear.

Think like an entrepreneur by getting in deep. No hedging bets, no second guesses, just focused and intentional commitment to a cause. Stick with a plan and trust your vision. Let those that left realise they should have stayed. Let those that doubted you eat their words and watch in awe.

Think like an entrepreneur and watch your career take on new heights. Access advanced levels of purpose and productivity when you find your unique way to contribute, keep perspective and commit to consistently excellent output on a huge scale.
