Paris welcomes humanitarian ceasefire between Azerbaijan, Armenia

France’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement welcoming the announcement of a ceasefire between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Paris called on the parties to strictly observe the ceasefire in order to create conditions for a permanent cessation of hostilities.

France stand ready to contribute to it within this framework, said the statement, calling for the resumption of substantial negotiations under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group without preconditions.

After Friday’s trilateral meeting between the Azerbaijani, Armenian and Russian foreign ministers in Moscow, a ceasefire was declared in Nagorno-Karabakh on Saturday for humanitarian purposes.
