Armenian Protesters Staging Hunger Strike Taken to Hospital
Harutyun Harutyunyan and Hayk Barikyan, protesters staging a hunger strike to demand reversal of the decision to increase Armenian electricity rates, were taken to the hospital on Thursday, July 2. Harurtyunyan had complaints of abdominal pain, while Barikyan was feeling generally unwell.

Note, the protesters started their hunger strike on Tuesday evening on Baghramyan Avenue in downtown Yerevan, where thousands of people have been staging a sit-in protest against the hike in electricity rates. The young men had said they intended to continue the strike as long as the decision to increase rates was not reversed.
