Azerbaijan to take measures to achieve inclusion of Khudaferin Bridges in UNESCO list

Azerbaijan and Iran will carry out joint activities in order to achieve the inclusion of the Khudaferin Bridges in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.

These activities will be carried out considering the exceptional value, unique landscape, high architectural and engineering solutions, as well as the location of the Khudaferin Bridges on the territory of the two countries, the State Service for the Protection, Development, and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture told AzVision.az.

Khudaferin bridges, which are outstanding engineering structures of their time, are magnificent historical monuments located on the Azerbaijan-Iran state border.

After the occupation of Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil region by the Armenian armed forces in 1993, the Khudaferin Bridges were destroyed. Twenty-seven years later, on 18 October 2020, Azerbaijan’s glorious Army hoisted Azerbaijan’s flag over the Khudaferin Bridges.
