Illicit arms trafficking to Armenia- FACTS

Smuggling of arms continue in the airspace of Armenia, AzVision.az reports.

According to the data, Aircompany Armenia has already joined the smuggling process. For example, on October 14, the airline started flights to Lyon, France. Another flight is scheduled for October 22.  However, there have been no flights from Armenia to this in the last 30 days.

Besides, the same airline, Aircompany Armenia, plans to fly to Voronezh, Russia on October 23. There have not recently been any flights in this route.

Of course, we can recall that France is home to an influential, numerous and rich Armenian diaspora. There is also an influential and large Armenian community in Voronezh. Moreover, one of its leaders, Hovhannes Papoyan, told “Vremya Voronezh” during the April 2016 battles that about 300 local youths had expressed a desire to go to the war zone.

If ethnic Armenians from Lyon or Voronezh wanted to return to their homeland, it would make sense to organize 4 flights via Lyon-Yerevan or Voronezh-Yerevan. In addition, now is not the right time to return to Armenia, which is affected by war and the coronavirus with more than 2,000 new cases and 15 deaths a day.

It is difficult to imagine that in the heat of the battles and in the background of poverty in Armenia, the people of Yerevan suddenly want to admire the Lyon Arena or the Admiralty Church in Voronezh.

Moreover, on the eve of the start of the current military operation, Armenian citizens went on a hunger strike in one of the squares of Yerevan, protesting against the closure of borders due to the coronavirus and demanding their entry into Russia. And suddenly, during the war and when the coronavirus has reached its peak, charter flights are sent to Lyon and Voronezh in exchange for imposing severe restrictions on exit from the country?

All these "strange things" is another confirmation of the next arms trafficking to Armenia. Voronezh, on the other hand, is very close to the Ukraineəs war-torn Donbas, and its proximity to war is always a weapon. Although not the newest.

Another issue is known. Such smuggling flights will not help Armenia to change the course of the war and avoid defeat.

In general, the military tactics of Armenia and Azerbaijan and the deployment of "volunteers", "mercenaries" and other "non-combatants" in Yerevan will lead to more casualties on the Armenians side. What happened in Karabakh today does not confirm the "strategic impact" of smuggling.
