Popular "BizNewsAsia" magazine names Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev "Man of the Year"
The Philippine`s "BizNewsAsia" magazine has named President Ilham Aliyev "Man of the Year".
The magazine`s special edition provides an insight into the overall achievements of Azerbaijan, as well as the country`s democratic reforms and its foreign policy.

The edition features several articles. "Man of Year" article provides detailed information about both President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, as well as his policy.

An article entitled "Aliyev era: Azerbaijan`s golden age" highlights the reforms carried out in the country in the past nine years, diversification of the country`s economy, social policy, oil strategy, GDP per capita, and proper use of budget revenues.

The article also says Azerbaijan took its special place in the world during the presidency of Ilham Aliyev.

The magazine says: "Economic achievements were gained due to statehood abilities and leadership of the President. His presidency has seen unprecedented economic growth, reforms and inclusion of the poor in development marked by massive poverty reduction not seen anywhere in the west. The global economic crisis didn`t influence on Azerbaijan."

"Azerbaijan is modernizing its education, reforming its judiciary, its infrastructure, its agriculture and many other sectors of the economy. Religious tolerance prevails in Azerbaijan and representatives of various peoples and religions live here in peace and harmony. Azerbaijan is known as an ancient oil-rich country. In early 20th century, the country accounts for 50 percent of global oil production. Azerbaijan has trade and economic ties with 145 countries in the world.

"Azerbaijan is also recognized as the gas country, which huge capacity for gas exports. The first democratic republic in the East was created in Azerbaijan in 1918. Azerbaijan has been a member of the United Nations since March 1992. It is also represented in the number of international organizations, including OSCE, Council of Europe, Islamic Cooperation Organization, Commonwealth of Independent States, Economic Cooperation Organization, Non-Aligned Movement.

Azerbaijan gained one of 10 non-permanent seas in the UN Security Council for 2012-2014."

Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict was also reflected in the magazine, which says Armenia occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan territory as a result of which more than one million people became refugees and IDPs.

"The UN Security Council`s four resolutions of 1993 condemned Armenia`s actions against Azerbaijan and demanded the release of the occupied lands. The occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia was also condemned in documents adopted by the OSCE, Council of Europe and Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Despite decisions and resolutions adopted by international organizations, the Armenian armed forces were not pulled out of the Azerbaijani lands. In 1992, the OSCE Minsk group was set up to solved the problem and talks have continued for 20 years," said the magazine.

The magazine covers history and activity of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP). It says that the Party was instituted "owing to the great efforts of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

"Aliyev has rendered exceptional services in the modern history of Azerbaijan. The 10-year presidency of Heydar Aliyev is considered the stage of formation of the Azerbaijani state, implementation of political and economic reforms. He is regarded as an author of oil deals called the Contract of the Century singed in 1994 with participation of over 30 companies from the US, England, France, Russian and other countries."

The magazine features photos reflecting President Ilham Aliyev`s meetings with world leaders, and highlighting large-scale reconstruction work in Azerbaijan.
