European Commissioner: Azerbaijan and EU at critical moment of relations
Azerbaijan and the European Union are at a critical moment of relations, the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule said in Brussels on Thursday, the official website of the EU reported.
Fule made these remarks at a meeting with the delegation led by the Chairman of the State Committee for European Integration Shahin Mustafayev.

"We are at a critical moment of our relations: this year offers opportunity for both the European Union and Azerbaijan," Fule said.

He also noted that EU retains high ambitions in these relations.

Fule added that, the EU is ready to give concrete support to core reforms such as those of public finance, education, regional development and justice, building on the excellent co-operation already achieved in the energy sector.

Commissioner Fule underscored that the central importance is the building a future based on democracy and human rights.

He also expressed his hope that the forthcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be conducted in an atmosphere of freedom and transparency.

It should be noted that the delegation led by the Minister for Economic Development of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the State Committee for European Integration, Shahin Mustafayev is on visit to Belgium.
